1. Acceptance, electronic record and priority
These Sarathi Terms are an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000. A Sarathi accepts them by registering, selecting acceptance in the CityRyde platform, making the Sarathi available for a request, accepting a Ride or parcel request, or continuing to use the platform after an update takes effect.
A Sarathi who does not agree must not provide a Ride or parcel delivery through CityRyde. These Sarathi Terms operate with the CityRyde Privacy Policy, safety standards, payment disclosures, service-area rules and request-specific information displayed in the platform. A specific written disclosure for a request controls only that request. Applicable Central and State law, permit conditions and lawful authority directions always prevail.
2. Defined terms
CityRyde means CityRyde Transportation Services Private Limited and the digital platform, support operations and permitted affiliates that facilitate service requests.
Sarathi means an independently onboarded person who uses an eligible Vehicle to consider and, when accepted, perform a Ride or parcel delivery.
Rider means a person who requests, receives, pays for or travels on a Ride and, where parcel delivery is selected, includes the sender and intended recipient where the context requires.
Ride means a bike, EV bike, auto, EV auto, car or EV car journey requested through CityRyde. Parcel means an item accepted for delivery through an offered CityRyde parcel category. Vehicle means the lawfully eligible vehicle used for the relevant service.
3. Sarathi eligibility and continuing representations
A Sarathi must be at least 18 years old, legally capable of contracting, authorised to work and provide the selected service in India, and free from any disqualification that would make platform access or Vehicle operation unlawful. The Sarathi represents throughout onboarding and every active session that all submitted information is truthful, current, complete and not misleading.
- The Sarathi must possess the driving experience, licence class, badge, authorisation and local eligibility required for the Vehicle and service.
- No owner, lessor, financier, employer, court or authority may prohibit the Sarathi from using the Vehicle for the selected commercial purpose.
- The Sarathi must disclose a suspension, cancellation, criminal proceeding, serious traffic matter, medical restriction or document change relevant to lawful and safe service.
- The Sarathi must not use another person's identity, account, licence, Vehicle documents, bank account or photograph without lawful authority and CityRyde approval.
Eligibility at onboarding does not guarantee permanent access. A Sarathi remains responsible for continuing compliance and must stop accepting requests immediately if any essential eligibility condition expires or becomes inaccurate.
4. CityRyde platform role and independent service relationship
CityRyde supplies technology for request discovery, matching, communication, navigation support, payment facilitation, safety tools, record keeping and grievance handling. Unless a mandatory law or request-specific disclosure provides otherwise, the Sarathi independently decides whether to be available and whether to accept an offered request, then supplies the Ride or parcel delivery directly to the Rider with reasonable skill, care and legal compliance.
The Sarathi is an independent service provider and not an employee, partner, franchisee, representative or agent authorised to bind CityRyde, except where applicable law conclusively determines a different status. Nothing in these Sarathi Terms removes a benefit or protection conferred on a gig worker, platform worker or other protected category by a law or notified scheme.
Onboarding rules, service standards, safety monitoring, fare technology, complaint review and platform suspension protect the platform and public; they do not transfer continuous possession of the Vehicle or minute-to-minute control of road decisions to CityRyde. A Sarathi may use other lawful platforms and is not promised any minimum number of requests, hours, income or exclusivity.
5. Identity verification, background checks and training
The Sarathi authorises CityRyde and lawful verification providers to authenticate identity, address, driving licence, Vehicle documents, bank details, police or background information and other onboarding records through official or authorised sources. CityRyde may conduct periodic checks and re-verification, including face matching, document renewal checks, safety review and checks required after a complaint or material account change.
- The Sarathi must attend induction, safety, accessibility, first-response, gender-sensitisation, platform-use and refresher training required by law or reasonably required for the service.
- The Sarathi must complete medical and eyesight checks, police verification and other examinations where required by applicable law or CityRyde's lawful safety programme.
- The Sarathi must not falsify a record, defeat a face check, conceal a disqualification, allow substitution or interfere with a verification process.
- Verification can reduce risk but cannot prove future conduct. It does not make CityRyde a guarantor of the Sarathi or transfer the Sarathi's personal legal duties to CityRyde.
CityRyde may pause onboarding or restrict access while information is incomplete, inconsistent, expired or reasonably suspected to be false, subject to fair inquiry and applicable law.
6. Vehicle ownership, permits, documents and condition
The Sarathi must use only the approved Vehicle shown in the accepted request. The Vehicle must be roadworthy, clean, safe and lawfully authorised for the relevant passenger or parcel activity. At all active times, the Sarathi must maintain the original or legally recognised digital form of the registration certificate, valid permit and badge where required, fitness certificate, pollution-under-control certificate, applicable tax evidence, insurance and any local authorisation.
- Number plates, mirrors, lights, tyres, brakes, horn, seats, restraints, charging or fuel system, locks and safety equipment must be functional.
- The Sarathi must complete preventive maintenance, statutory inspection, pollution and fitness renewals, recalls and repairs without relying on CityRyde reminders.
- The Vehicle must not carry an unapproved advertisement, hidden recording device, unlawful modification, dangerous defect or equipment that obstructs safe operation.
- Outstanding challans, permit limitations, tolls, parking charges and operating penalties remain the responsibility of the legally liable person.
- A rented Vehicle may be used only with the approved vendor's documented authority, appropriate insurance and commercial permissions. Rental payment is directly between the Sarathi and vendor unless CityRyde expressly states otherwise.
CityRyde may request photographs, telematics, inspection records or a physical check. A passed check is time-specific and does not relieve the Sarathi or Vehicle owner of continuing maintenance responsibility.
7. Service-specific obligations
Bike and EV bike
- Carry only the number of persons lawfully permitted.
- Provide and require correctly fastened, lawful helmets.
- Do not carry luggage that destabilises, blocks controls or creates a hazard.
- Follow commercial two-wheeler and bike taxi authorisation applicable in the operating State.
Auto and EV auto
- Remain within passenger, luggage and permit capacity.
- Keep openings, meters and safety equipment compliant where required.
- Secure luggage without blocking visibility or passenger exit.
- Use only authorised pickup, stand, parking and operating areas.
Car and EV car
- Ensure every required seat belt is available and used.
- Do not exceed the approved seating or luggage limit.
- Keep doors, child locks, climate and safety systems in working order.
- Do not represent that child or accessibility equipment exists unless confirmed.
Bike and auto parcel delivery
- Accept only a Parcel compatible with the displayed category, weight and dimensions.
- Use secure carriage equipment suited to weather and ordinary road movement.
- Follow pickup, recipient verification and proof-of-delivery steps.
- Never carry a passenger during a parcel-only request unless expressly lawful and authorised.
8. Sarathi account, device and platform security
The Sarathi account is personal and non-transferable. The Sarathi must safeguard the device, password, one-time password, biometric access and registered SIM; promptly install authentic updates; and immediately report loss, compromise or unauthorised activity. All accepted requests and instructions issued from the account may be treated as the Sarathi's actions until CityRyde receives sufficient notice and can reasonably restrict access.
The Sarathi must not operate multiple deceptive accounts, rent an account, share live credentials, manipulate GPS, use automation to obtain requests, interfere with pricing or matching, scrape information, install unauthorised software, create false completion records or bypass a safety feature. CityRyde is not responsible for loss caused by the Sarathi's insecure device, credential sharing or delayed report, except to the extent caused by CityRyde's own breach of a non-excludable duty.
9. Availability, request acceptance and freedom from targets
The Sarathi chooses when to log in, subject to lawful driving-hour, fatigue and platform safety limits. A displayed request is an opportunity, not a promise of work. Acceptance creates a personal obligation to perform the request in good faith unless cancellation is justified by safety, legality, incapacity, Rider conduct or another disclosed reason.
CityRyde does not require mandatory daily Ride targets. The Sarathi must not accept requests while unable to complete them safely, repeatedly cancel to manipulate availability, pressure a Rider to cancel, demand an off-platform fare or discriminate unlawfully. CityRyde may use transparent quality and safety standards and proportionate controls, but no request volume, acceptance rate, promotional amount or earning level is guaranteed.
10. Pickup, Rider verification, route and completion
The Sarathi must travel to the recorded pickup safely, identify the correct Rider through the platform's permitted verification method, and confirm that the displayed service, destination, Vehicle and passenger count are lawful. The Sarathi must never begin with a substituted Rider or transfer a request to another Sarathi.
- Start and end the Ride only through the CityRyde platform at the correct time and location.
- Use a reasonably safe and lawful route, considering Rider preference without accepting an instruction that violates law or safety.
- Do not make an unauthorised detour, personal stop, fuel or charging stop avoidable through reasonable preparation.
- Do not falsely mark arrival, pickup, completion, waiting time, distance, toll or payment.
- Permit safe boarding and alighting and provide reasonable notice if a lawful route or destination cannot be reached.
Map, traffic and arrival information is indicative. The Sarathi must exercise independent road judgment and must not follow navigation where it directs an illegal, closed, unsafe or unsuitable route.
11. Road safety, professional conduct and zero tolerance
The Sarathi owes direct duties of reasonable care to the Rider, other road users and Parcel property in the Sarathi's possession. The Sarathi must comply with traffic law, speed limits, protective-equipment rules, lawful working-hour restrictions and authority directions, and must stop operating when tired, ill, distracted or otherwise unsafe.
- No alcohol, narcotic, intoxicant or impairing substance may be consumed before or during an active period.
- No handheld call, texting, streaming, photography, platform interaction or unsafe navigation adjustment is permitted while the Vehicle is moving.
- No rash driving, racing, intimidation, road rage, sexual conduct, harassment, discrimination, abusive language, weapon display, smoking or deliberate exposure to danger is permitted.
- The Sarathi must not request an unsafe pickup, overload the Vehicle, permit unlawful riding, conceal a collision or leave a Rider in a dangerous location without lawful reason.
- Professional appearance, hygiene, respectful communication and reasonable assistance must be maintained.
CityRyde may immediately restrict access where a credible serious-safety allegation presents an ongoing risk, then conduct the inquiry and give the Sarathi a reasonable opportunity to respond as applicable.
12. Opt-in gender-matched Ride requests
Where available and lawful, CityRyde may offer Riders and Sarathis an optional preference for a corresponding gender match. A Sarathi must provide accurate profile information, select a preference voluntarily and never misuse the feature to harass, solicit, stereotype or unlawfully discriminate.
A gender match is a preference-based platform result, not a guarantee of identity, conduct, compatibility or safety. The Sarathi must verify the Rider using the permitted booking method, apply the same safety standards to every Ride and use the reporting tools for a mismatch or concern. Availability may be limited and declining a mismatched request through the designated process must not be replaced by confrontation.
13. Minors, senior Riders and Riders with disabilities
The Sarathi must provide lawful, respectful and non-discriminatory service to senior Riders and Riders with disabilities, allow reasonable boarding time, and offer reasonable assistance that can be supplied safely without specialised medical skill. Mobility aids and service animals must be accommodated where required by law and compatible with the Vehicle.
The Sarathi must not lift a person, administer medicine or provide medical care beyond the Sarathi's competence. A request involving an unaccompanied minor must be declined unless CityRyde expressly offers and confirms a lawful service designed for that purpose. An accompanying adult remains responsible for child supervision and compatible restraints, but the Sarathi must refuse an unlawful or plainly unsafe arrangement.
14. Rider conduct, refusal and reporting
A Rider is independently responsible for the Rider's behaviour, instructions, belongings, payment and persons under the Rider's control. The Sarathi may move to safety, decline to start or lawfully end a service for violence, harassment, intoxication creating danger, weapons, prohibited goods, excessive capacity, identity mismatch, refusal of required safety equipment, unlawful instructions or credible non-payment risk.
The Sarathi must report the issue promptly, preserve relevant evidence and avoid retaliation, unlawful detention, public disclosure of Rider data or unnecessary confrontation. CityRyde may provide support and investigate, but cannot physically control a Rider, bystander or road event. To the maximum extent permitted by law, CityRyde is not liable for a Rider's assault, theft, fraud, damage, false statement, inaction or other independent wrongdoing unless loss is proved to result from CityRyde's own breach of a mandatory duty.
15. Fares, 100% eligible Ride earnings and promotional statements
CityRyde's zero-commission model is intended to allow a Sarathi to retain 100% of the eligible fare for a validly completed Ride, subject to the request disclosure, applicable taxes, legally required deductions, refunds, chargebacks, cash already collected, payment-provider charges separately disclosed, toll or parking treatment, and any independent rental or subscription obligation accepted by the Sarathi. CityRyde will not make a hidden deduction from an eligible completed fare.
A displayed fare or range may depend on route, distance, lawful State fare rules, waiting, tolls, taxes and request changes. The Sarathi must not demand an undisclosed amount, impose a personal surcharge, manipulate distance or refuse a recorded payment method after acceptance.
“Earn up to 2X” and similar comparisons describe a potential outcome under stated assumptions; they are not income guarantees. Actual earnings vary with location, time online, lawful availability, accepted and completed requests, operating costs, Vehicle efficiency, payment collection, taxes and market conditions. The Sarathi alone decides whether the opportunity meets the Sarathi's commercial needs.
16. Sarathi subscription fee and zero-commission access model
CityRyde may offer daily, weekly, monthly or other fixed-period Sarathi subscription plans for access to eligible Ride and parcel delivery opportunities. The subscription fee pays for time-limited access to applicable CityRyde platform features and is separate from the fare for a completed service. CityRyde's zero-commission policy means CityRyde does not deduct a percentage commission from an eligible completed fare merely because that Ride or parcel request was facilitated during a paid subscription period.
Plan disclosure and informed purchase
Before a Sarathi purchases a plan, CityRyde will display the total subscription price, applicable GST or other tax, validity period, activation time, supported city or service area, eligible Vehicle or service category, included platform features, material restrictions and renewal status. The terms displayed at confirmation form part of the subscription contract. No Sarathi is required to buy a plan without receiving this information, and CityRyde will not impose an undisclosed subscription charge.
Unlimited eligible opportunities
A plan described as providing “unlimited Rides” or “unlimited requests” permits the Sarathi to remain eligible to receive any number of suitable opportunities during the active period, subject to Rider demand, location, service coverage, lawful operating hours, safety controls, account status, Vehicle category, matching criteria and technical availability. It does not guarantee a minimum number of requests, priority allocation, completed Rides, Parcel bookings, gross fare, profit or recovery of the subscription fee.
- No mandatory Ride target applies merely because the Sarathi purchases a subscription.
- The Sarathi remains free to go offline, decline a request or use another lawful platform, subject to accepted-request and safety obligations.
- A subscription does not cover fuel, charging, rent, maintenance, insurance, tolls, permits, fines, mobile data, banking charges or tax unless the purchase screen expressly includes that item.
- A subscription cannot be transferred, shared, resold or used through another Sarathi account or unapproved Vehicle.
Activation, validity, expiry and renewal
Unless the purchase screen states otherwise, validity begins when payment succeeds and CityRyde confirms activation. The plan expires at the displayed time even if the Sarathi remains offline or receives fewer opportunities than expected. Unused time does not roll over and has no cash value unless CityRyde expressly provides a pause or carry-forward feature.
A subscription will renew automatically only where the Sarathi gives a clear, separate and revocable mandate that complies with applicable payment rules. CityRyde will display the renewal frequency and amount and provide any notice required by law or the payment provider. Cancelling renewal prevents the next charge but does not normally end access already purchased for the current period. Revocation through a bank, UPI or app-store mandate does not create a refund for an already activated plan.
Refunds, service interruption and payment disputes
A subscription payment is refundable where it was duplicated, charged without valid authorisation, or accepted but activation failed because of a verified CityRyde system error, and in any other circumstance required by law or the plan disclosure. After a plan is activated and platform access is made available, change of schedule, limited Rider demand, voluntary inactivity, rejected requests, Vehicle cost or lower-than-expected earnings does not by itself create a refund right.
If a material CityRyde-controlled outage prevents substantially all subscribed access for a continuous period, CityRyde may extend validity, issue a proportionate platform credit or provide another remedy stated in the plan, subject to mandatory law. Connectivity failure, device failure, account non-compliance, safety suspension, authority restriction, force majeure or third-party outage outside CityRyde's reasonable control does not automatically require a refund. The Sarathi must report a billing dispute promptly with the transaction reference and must not use a dishonest chargeback after receiving the subscribed access.
Plan changes, promotional pricing and regulatory compliance
CityRyde may introduce, discontinue or revise subscription plans prospectively. A material price or benefit change will not reduce a prepaid active plan unless required by law or accepted by the Sarathi; it will apply to a later purchase or renewal after clear notice. Trial, introductory, referral, city-specific or Vehicle-specific pricing may have separate eligibility, duration and usage conditions and does not create a right to the same price in a later period.
Subscription design, fare settlement and Sarathi receipts remain subject to applicable State aggregator rules and licence conditions. Where law treats a subscription charge as part of apportioned fare, commission or another regulated payment, CityRyde will apply the legally required classification and minimum Sarathi share. Expiry, cancellation or suspension of a subscription does not permit CityRyde to confiscate valid earnings from completed services or remove a statutory payment right.
17. Collection, settlement, cash, invoices and tax
Where CityRyde collects a payment, CityRyde acts as a limited payment facilitator for settlement to the Sarathi, subject to reconciliation, banking timelines, fraud review, lawful set-off and the displayed payment terms. Where the Sarathi directly collects cash or an authorised electronic payment, the Sarathi must record it accurately, return correct change where applicable and never collect the same amount twice.
- The Sarathi must maintain a verified bank account in the correct lawful name and is responsible for errors in submitted payment details.
- Settlement may be delayed for bank failure, chargeback, identity review, legal hold, suspected fraud, incorrect records or an event outside CityRyde's control.
- The Sarathi is responsible for tax registration, returns, invoices and payment obligations applicable to the Sarathi's supply, except tax that law expressly requires CityRyde to collect, withhold or report.
- CityRyde may provide transaction summaries and statutory certificates but does not give personal tax advice.
A dispute must identify the request, amount and evidence promptly. CityRyde may correct a manifest processing error and recover a duplicate, fraudulent or wrongly credited amount after reasonable notice where practicable.
18. Cancellation, no-show, waiting and refunds
The Sarathi may cancel through the stated reason codes and must provide truthful information. A cancellation must not be used to extract cash, avoid a protected Rider, distort platform records or obtain a higher fare. A Rider no-show, unsafe pickup, Vehicle failure or legal restriction must be handled through the displayed process.
Cancellation fees, waiting charges and refunds apply only when disclosed and lawful. CityRyde may reverse an amount where the service was not supplied, the record is false, payment duplicated, safety materially compromised, or law requires a refund. A reversal is not a penalty when it merely restores money that was not validly earned. Any further deduction or sanction must be supported by the terms, evidence and applicable law.
19. Parcel request review and acceptance
Before accepting custody, the Sarathi must compare the Parcel with the disclosed category, packaging, approximate size and weight, pickup and delivery details. The Sarathi may decline a leaking, damaged, unsealed, suspicious, prohibited, misdescribed, overweight or unsafe Parcel and must report the concern through CityRyde.
The sender is responsible for lawful contents, accurate description, suitable packaging, recipient details and any declaration required by law. The Sarathi must not certify contents not inspected, but may request the sender to open or repack a Parcel where the platform process and law allow. Acceptance does not authorise the Sarathi to open, use, substitute, photograph, disclose or retain the contents.
CityRyde facilitates the request and related records. The Sarathi performs the physical delivery and accepts the direct duty of reasonable care while the Parcel is in the Sarathi's custody. The legal classification of a party as carrier, agent, bailee or otherwise is determined by applicable law and operational facts, not merely by the wording of these Sarathi Terms.
20. Parcel custody, delivery proof and failed delivery
The Sarathi must secure the Parcel against ordinary movement, weather, contamination, theft and avoidable damage; travel without unnecessary detour; and deliver only to the verified recipient, authorised location or process shown in the request. The Sarathi must maintain chain-of-custody records required by CityRyde, including pickup confirmation, one-time password, signature, photograph or other lawful proof.
- Never leave a Parcel unattended, hand it to an unauthorised person or mark delivery before completion.
- Never demand payment on delivery unless the request expressly provides a lawful collection feature.
- If the recipient is unavailable, contact the Rider only through permitted channels and follow the waiting, return or support instructions.
- Do not abandon, dispose of, sell or retain a failed-delivery Parcel. Return it as directed unless police, safety or another lawful authority requires a different step.
- Promptly report loss, suspected theft, damage, leakage, tampering, collision, authority seizure or an incorrect Parcel.
The Sarathi is responsible for loss caused by the Sarathi's theft, fraud, unauthorised opening, deliberate damage, abandonment, material custody breach or negligence, subject to applicable law, declared-value rules, insurance and proof of causation.
21. Prohibited, restricted and dangerous Parcels
The Sarathi must not knowingly accept weapons, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, illegal drugs, stolen property, hazardous chemicals, corrosives, flammable substances, human remains, live animals, unlawfully transported alcohol or tobacco, cash, bearer instruments, precious stones, controlled medicines, obscene or infringing material, or any item prohibited by law, authority direction, Vehicle permit, insurer or CityRyde policy.
Food, medicine, fragile goods, high-value items, perishables, temperature-controlled material, batteries and other restricted categories may be carried only when CityRyde expressly offers the category and all packaging, declaration, handling and legal conditions are met. If the Sarathi reasonably suspects danger or illegality after pickup, the Sarathi must stop in a safe place, avoid opening or handling further, contact emergency authorities where appropriate, and notify CityRyde.
CityRyde does not authorise the Sarathi to commit an offence or obstruct an authority. The sender remains primarily responsible for concealed or falsely declared contents, without excusing the Sarathi's knowing participation or failure to exercise legally required care.
22. Collision, crime, breakdown, emergency and SOS
In an immediate threat, collision, fire, medical event or suspected crime, the Sarathi must prioritise life and safety, stop where reasonably safe, contact the appropriate public emergency service, provide assistance required by motor-vehicle law, and notify CityRyde after urgent action. The Sarathi must not flee, conceal evidence, negotiate an unlawful private settlement or make a false account.
The Sarathi should preserve Vehicle and request details, photographs where safe and lawful, witness information, police or medical records and insurer notifications. An in-app SOS or monitoring feature depends on device power, permissions, GPS, network and third-party systems; it supplements and does not replace public emergency services. CityRyde may share proportionate request, location and account information with emergency contacts, insurers or lawful authorities.
A breakdown must be reported promptly. The Sarathi must protect the Rider and Parcel from avoidable harm and must not continue in a Vehicle that is unsafe or legally unfit.
23. Insurance, welfare cover and claim cooperation
The Sarathi and Vehicle owner must maintain all motor, passenger, third-party, commercial-use, goods-in-transit or other insurance required for the selected service. Any insurance or welfare cover arranged through CityRyde is governed exclusively by the policy wording, eligibility, exclusions, reporting deadlines, deductibles, insurer decision and applicable law; it is not a promise that every loss will be paid.
The Sarathi must give accurate claim information, cooperate with lawful investigation, avoid prejudicing the claim and disclose other available insurance. CityRyde may route a claim or provide platform records but does not determine fault or bind an insurer. A benefit offered by CityRyde does not replace required Vehicle insurance or create employment status by itself.
No provision excludes or restricts liability for death or bodily injury where such restriction is void under section 92 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, or another applicable law. Statutory social-security or aggregator-welfare obligations apply according to their notified commencement and scope.
24. Ratings, complaints, monitoring and fair inquiry
CityRyde may use Rider feedback, cancellations, safety reports, verification results, telematics, support records and service-quality data to protect the platform. A rating is contextual and may be reviewed for fraud, retaliation, bias or irrelevance. CityRyde may require refresher training or corrective action where permitted.
For a complaint alleging breach of transport law or these Sarathi Terms, CityRyde will conduct the inquiry and provide procedural fairness required by applicable law, including an opportunity for the Sarathi to respond where safety and lawful investigation permit. Temporary restriction during a serious inquiry is protective and is not a finding of guilt. CityRyde does not adjudicate criminal guilt, civil fault or insurance liability.
The Sarathi must cooperate truthfully, preserve records and keep complaint information confidential. Retaliation against a Rider, witness, CityRyde representative or another Sarathi is prohibited.
25. Off-platform arrangements, solicitation and personal dealings
The Sarathi must not use Rider contact, route or request information to solicit an unrecorded Ride, parcel delivery, loan, sale, personal relationship or payment. A request moved outside CityRyde may lose platform records, payment support, safety tools and any request-linked cover, and CityRyde is not responsible for that independent arrangement.
The Sarathi may not represent that CityRyde endorses a separate business, promise compensation on CityRyde's behalf or contact a Rider after completion except through an authorised lost-item, support or lawful process. Personal dealings between a Rider and Sarathi are at their own risk and do not bind CityRyde.
26. Sarathi information, Rider privacy and lawful monitoring
CityRyde processes identity, verification, licence, Vehicle, bank, device, location, request, payment, safety, communication, rating and support information as described in the CityRyde Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection law. Information may be shared with a matched Rider, verifier, payment or map provider, insurer, rental vendor, emergency contact, professional adviser or lawful authority for a proportionate purpose.
The Sarathi must protect Rider names, telephone aliases, addresses, location, payment status and Parcel details; use them only to perform the request; and never copy, publish, sell, threaten with or retain them for an unrelated purpose. Recording inside a Vehicle is permitted only where lawfully disclosed, consented to where required, securely handled and compliant with CityRyde policy.
CityRyde may monitor location and request status while the Sarathi is online or performing a service, and may retain legally necessary records for transport, tax, safety, insurance, fraud and dispute purposes. Data rights, correction, erasure and grievances remain subject to identity verification, lawful retention and the phased commencement of the Digital Personal Data Protection framework.
27. Maps, payments, networks, insurers and rental vendors
Mapping, telecommunications, identity, cloud, payment, insurance, charging and rental services may be supplied by independent third parties under separate terms. CityRyde does not own or control a Sarathi's Vehicle merely because it identifies an approved rental vendor, and rent must be paid directly to that vendor unless a written CityRyde flow expressly states otherwise.
The Sarathi must review third-party terms and verify navigation, payment, charging and Vehicle suitability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, CityRyde is not responsible for an independent third party's outage, declined payment, inaccurate map, Vehicle defect, rental dispute, insurer decision or wrongful conduct, except where CityRyde is independently liable for its own selection, instruction or mandatory duty.
28. CityRyde technology, brand and confidential information
CityRyde and its licensors retain all rights in the platform, software, interfaces, matching logic, databases, text, graphics, trade marks and confidential operational material. CityRyde grants the Sarathi a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use the platform solely to consider and perform lawful requests.
The Sarathi must not copy, sublicense, reverse engineer, scrape, frame, overload, introduce malware, bypass controls, use bots, create a confusingly similar service, disclose confidential business information or use CityRyde branding without permission. CityRyde-branded equipment remains subject to its issue terms and must be returned or destroyed when required. Feedback may be used to improve CityRyde without identifying the Sarathi, subject to applicable law.
29. Availability and outcome disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CityRyde is supplied on an “as available” basis. CityRyde does not promise uninterrupted access, any number or type of requests, a particular service area, exact navigation, continuous network or SOS connectivity, error-free payment processing, Rider conduct, Parcel contents, income, profit, Vehicle utilisation or business continuity.
Identity and document checks, safety tools, gender matching and monitoring reduce particular risks but cannot guarantee that a Rider, Sarathi, sender, recipient or third party will act lawfully or that an incident will be prevented. The Sarathi remains responsible for independent safety judgment, lawful Vehicle control, request performance and business decisions.
Nothing in this clause excludes an express written commitment or a warranty, duty, benefit or remedy that applicable law does not permit CityRyde to exclude.
30. Allocation and limitation of CityRyde liability
Each Sarathi and Rider remains responsible for that person's acts, omissions, instructions, legal compliance and property. To the maximum extent permitted by law, CityRyde is not liable for loss caused by:
- a Sarathi's or Rider's assault, harassment, theft, fraud, negligence, inaction, traffic offence, intoxication, misrepresentation, unsafe Vehicle, unlawful instruction, Parcel breach or other independent wrongdoing;
- the sender's concealment or misdescription of Parcel contents, inadequate packaging, incorrect recipient details or prohibited goods;
- a road user, recipient, authority, bystander, vendor, insurer, weather event, road defect, civil disturbance, crime or other circumstance outside CityRyde's reasonable control;
- an off-platform payment, service, side agreement or contact not recorded and authorised through CityRyde;
- the Sarathi's failure to maintain documents, insurance, Vehicle condition, account security, tax compliance, protective equipment, safe custody or timely emergency action;
- loss of profit, anticipated income, business opportunity, reputation or data, or indirect, special, incidental, exemplary, punitive or consequential loss.
CityRyde is responsible only for direct loss proved to have been caused by CityRyde's own breach of these Sarathi Terms or an applicable legal duty. Where a monetary cap is lawful, CityRyde's aggregate contractual liability to a Sarathi will not exceed the greater of INR 10,000 or the CityRyde platform fees actually paid by that Sarathi during the six months before the event giving rise to the claim.
The exclusions and cap do not apply to CityRyde's fraud or wilful misconduct, gross negligence where it cannot be excluded, death or bodily injury where limitation is prohibited, a mandatory transport, insurance, social-security or data-protection obligation, or any remedy that applicable law preserves. Classification and liability are determined by law and proved facts, not solely by a contractual label.
31. Sarathi indemnity for Sarathi-caused claims
To the extent permitted by law, the Sarathi will indemnify CityRyde, its permitted affiliates and personnel against a third-party claim, regulatory demand, penalty, direct loss and reasonable legal expense to the extent caused by the Sarathi's:
- material breach of these Sarathi Terms, permit, insurance condition or applicable law;
- traffic offence, unsafe Vehicle, collision fault, fraud, theft, harassment, violence, discrimination or deliberate misconduct;
- loss, damage, unauthorised opening, abandonment or unlawful carriage of a Parcel while under the Sarathi's control;
- tax, employment, rental, ownership, financing or Vehicle dispute for which the Sarathi is legally responsible;
- misuse of Rider data, CityRyde technology, branding or confidential information.
The indemnity applies only to the extent the claim was caused by the Sarathi. It does not require the Sarathi to indemnify CityRyde for CityRyde's own established fraud, wilful misconduct, non-excludable negligence or breach of a mandatory duty. CityRyde will give reasonable notice of a covered claim and permit reasonable participation in the defence, subject to confidentiality, insurance and regulatory requirements.
32. Restriction, suspension, termination and settlement
CityRyde may restrict, suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary for immediate safety, identity or document failure, fraud, serious complaint, repeated material service failure, prohibited Parcel, payment abuse, unlawful conduct, platform interference, reputational impersonation or legal compliance. A temporary restriction may begin before a final inquiry where delay would create material risk.
Where appropriate and lawful, CityRyde will state the material reason and offer a reasonable opportunity to respond or appeal. The Sarathi may stop using CityRyde at any time and may request account closure, subject to completing an active service, returning property and lawful record retention.
After termination, CityRyde will reconcile valid completed earnings, cash collections, refunds and lawful set-offs. The Sarathi must stop representing an association with CityRyde and return CityRyde property. Accrued payment, confidentiality, intellectual-property, privacy, indemnity, liability, dispute and record-retention provisions survive.
33. Support, grievances, governing law and disputes
The Sarathi should submit a complaint using registered contact details and include the request identifier, date, issue, requested resolution and available evidence. Immediate danger must first be reported to the appropriate public emergency service.
CityRyde support: support@city-ryde.com.
Headquarters: Nexus Business Centre, SBH Officers Colony, Mega Hills, Madhapur, Hyderabad, Telangana 500081.
Grievance Officer: CityRyde Grievance Officer. The individual name, direct telephone number and escalation contact must be displayed in the CityRyde platform and support page before these Sarathi Terms are placed into production.
These Sarathi Terms are governed by Indian law. CityRyde and the Sarathi will attempt good-faith resolution for 30 days after a written dispute notice. A dispute legally capable of arbitration may then be referred to a sole arbitrator mutually appointed under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. Proceedings will be in English, the juridical seat will be Hyderabad, Telangana, and remote hearings may be used where fair and lawful.
This clause does not prevent urgent interim relief, a criminal complaint, a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal proceeding or access to a labour, social-security, data-protection, transport, consumer or other statutory forum that cannot lawfully be waived. Subject to those rights and valid arbitration, courts at Hyderabad have jurisdiction.
34. Changes, notices and general provisions
CityRyde may update these Sarathi Terms for legal, safety, technical or operational reasons. A material change will be notified through the platform, email or another reasonable electronic channel before effectiveness where law requires. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance; a Sarathi who disagrees must stop using the platform. No update retroactively removes an accrued statutory right solely in CityRyde's favour.
The Sarathi may not transfer the account or obligations. CityRyde may lawfully assign these Sarathi Terms in a restructuring, financing, merger or platform transfer without unlawfully reducing Sarathi rights. If any provision is invalid, it will be limited or severed only as necessary and the remainder continues. Delay in enforcement is not waiver.
These Sarathi Terms, incorporated policies and request-specific disclosures form the agreement for Sarathi platform use and replace prior Sarathi platform terms on the same subject. Electronic notices are treated as received when made available to the registered account or contact channel, subject to mandatory law. Translations may be offered for accessibility; the English version controls only where permitted and a conflict cannot reasonably be reconciled.
CityRyde is not responsible for delay or failure caused by severe weather, flood, fire, epidemic, natural disaster, war, civil unrest, strike, road closure, government direction, telecommunications or electricity failure, payment-network outage or cyberattack despite reasonable safeguards. CityRyde will use reasonable restoration efforts and comply with mandatory continuity duties.
